How To Use MailerLite To Grow Your Email List Faster on 2022

If you've been following my blog for a while, or if you've joined my Facebook group, you're undoubtedly aware that I use MailerLite to expand my email list.

One of my favourite tools is MailerLite. It has aided me in rapidly growing an email list of thousands of subscribers. As a result, I was able to take my blogging business to the next level.

I can automate a lot of my email marketing duties using MailerLite, like sending personalized welcome letters to new subscribers, offering freebies, content upgrades, and a free 6-day email course. I also enjoy having a well-organized email list and being able to give each subscriber only the emails that they are interested in.

So, if you want to expand your email list quickly and cheaply, MailerLite is almost certainly all you'll ever need, and I'm not exaggerating.

How to set up MailerLite in a professional manner

It's completely free to get started with MailerLite. They won't even ask for your payment card information until you've accumulated 1,000 subscribers.

You can create a MailerLite account here if you don't already have one.

Click the Create my account button after entering your name or company name, email address, and password.

You can use Gmail, Yahoo, or any other email account to sign up.

You'll need a custom email address with your own domain name (like aw[email protected]) to send email newsletters to your contacts.

Obtaining account approval

You will be transported to the welcome page right away. Make sure your account is accepted before you do anything else.

Get your MailerLite account approved and start building your email list.

Fill out your profile completely.

To begin, go to the Complete your profile page and fill in your information. They don't ask for anything too personal, so don't be concerned.

Actually, all they need is your name, address, and time zone, as well as certain information collected by MailerLite for statistical purposes (like the industry you are in, how many subscribers you already have, how did you find out about MailerLite, etc.)

After you've completed all of the fields, click Save and agree to their anti-spam policy.

Check your website for errors.

Click the Verify your website link, enter your domain name, and then click Next.

You'll need to provide a valid custom email address (such as [email protected]) here.

MailerLite performs this for your benefit, to ensure that your emails are delivered as quickly as possible. If you send your newsletters using a Gmail, Yahoo, or similar email account, the majority of email providers will designate them as spam. MailerLite will only send emails from a custom email address to avoid this.

Next should be selected. An email with a confirmation link will be sent to you.

That's pretty much it for getting your MailerLite account set up! Congrats!

How to import your existing MailerLite subscribers

If you've already collected emails using another email marketing service, you'll need to export those subscribers to a CSV or TXT file and keep it on your computer.

On the MailerLite welcome screen, click the Add Subscribers button, or go to the Subscribers tab at the top of the page, and then click the orange Add Subscribers button.

You'll see four options on the next screen.

The first is to import the CSV or TXT file that you previously obtained.

If required, rename each column to correspond to the information you've already gathered. If a suitable field name isn't available in the drop-down menu, build one by selecting A new text/numeric/date field and giving it the proper name.

Don't panic if only one subscriber was added. The table heading is most likely to blame.

Alternatively, you can import subscribers from an Excel list, manually add them one by one, or connect your accounts if you've already used MailChimp for a seamless transition.

The number of subscribers should be refreshing. That concludes our discussion.

The MailerLite tabs are easy to understand.

MailerLite is really simple to use, beginning with the simple menu at the top of the page.

Dashboard

This is where you may see a summary of your account. You'll see the most recent email newsletter (called a campaign in MailerLite), information about your subscribers, your plan, and some account analytics at the very top.

Campaigns

A MailerLite campaign, as previously said, is a simple email newsletter that you can send to your entire list or a specific group of people.

To make a newsletter, click the orange Create your first email button and select one of the following options:

Campaign on a regular basis (a regular newsletter)

Campaign with an A/B split (create two versions of the same newsletter for the purpose of testing which one performs best)

Auto-resend (if a subscriber does not open a newsletter within a specific length of time, MailerLite will send the email again at a later time)

Campaign for RSS (sends out a newsletter every time you publish new content on your blog)

In MailerLite, here's how to make an email newsletter.

Create your newsletter, select which subscribers should receive it, and schedule delivery for the next day.

You'll also see a list of your previously sent email newsletters with statistics on the campaigns page (clicking on the View report will shed a light on which links your subscribers clicked on, the countries your newsletter was opened from, etc).

Subscribers

MailerLite divides your email subscribers into groups and segments (the traditional way) (the new way).

Groups, fields, segments, signup date, signup source, timezone, campaigns, automation processes, and time inactive can all be used to filter segments based on historical subscriber behaviour.

Click the orange Create Section button and give it a name to start a new segment.

If you choose to use groups, the manner you organize your list will be determined by the emphasis of your blog and your list-building objectives.

If you blog on two different topics (for example, exotic destinations and finances), you'll almost certainly need to split your audience in half. Then you may send out travel-related newsletters to those who have shown an interest in exotic locations, as well as budgeting advice to those who are interested in living on a budget.

You won't disturb your subscribers with emails they don't want, and you'll avoid high unsubscribe rates as a result.

Click the orange Create new group button and give it a name to start a new group.

Forms

There are four different sorts of forms in MailerLite:

Popups (four highly adjustable templates, including one that fills the entire screen – sometimes known as a welcome mat) -> see image below

There are ten beautiful landing page themes to select from. You may make each landing page's URL look like this: www.yourblogname.com/landingpage)

Forms that are embedded (2 versions: a regular form you can embed anywhere in your blog posts and pages, and a subscribe button that opens a popup form when clicked)

Promotions (8 distinct pop-up themes, including surveys, a countdown timer, a mystery sale, and a product popup – only available on paid subscriptions)

You must give each form a name (for internal use only) and attach it to one (or more) groups each time you create one (s). When a reader subscribes to your newsletter via a specific form, they will be assigned to that group automatically.

The design of MailerLite forms is extremely customizable and user-friendly. I recommend that you experiment with the various options to get a sense of what you can accomplish.

Each form has its own statistics, the option to opt for double or single opt-in, as well as a personalized confirmation email and thank you page.

The behaviour settings are quite useful, and I appreciate having complete control over when and when a popup appears.

Automation

Even with the lifetime free subscription, MailerLite provides complete automation features, which is extremely impressive.

This is a fantastic alternative for me. It's the only way I've been able to develop my email list from zero to hundreds of subscribers in less than two months.

If you're not sure what automation is, let me explain… It's just a clever means of sending an email (or a series of emails) when a subscriber does a specified action or when a given period of time has passed.

I utilize automation to send all of my welcome emails as well as a 6-day drip campaign for my free email course after subscriber signs up.

To begin automating, click the Create a new workflow button. Choose a name for it, as well as a trigger and a subscription group.

There are numerous trigger choices in MailerLite. You can send an email when a subscriber joins a group (which normally happens when they sign up) or clicks a certain link in a previously sent email, among other things.

After you've selected the first trigger, you'll be given four options:

Make an email.

Set a time limit before doing any additional action (ie. wait 10 minutes before you send an email)

Create a condition (if the subscriber does this, do X, otherwise do Y)

Select a course of action (ie. copy a subscriber to a new group or remove a subscriber from a certain group)

Using MailerLite to Automate a Process

You can use the following to create an email:

  • The editor is a drag-and-drop system (I use this always because it has SO many options, like countdowns, buttons, and the possibility to showcase products)
  • The rich text editor (you'll still be able to enter text and photos, but you'll be losing out on a lot of other options)
  • Create an HTML email instead.
  • How I use MailerLite to grow my list by hundreds of new subscribers per month
  • On average, I've been adding 150 subscribers per month. This is how I go about it.
  • I use the MailerLite plugin, which is available for free.

It's a lot of fun to make a form with MailerLite. Copying and pasting unsightly lines of code into your material, on the other hand, isn't.

I'm a boy that tries to keep away from code as much as possible. And, thankfully, MailerLite provides a free and really simple to use WordPress plugin that works flawlessly straight out of the box.

The green MailerLite symbol will appear in your post editor once it has been installed. When you wish to insert a form into your article, simply click on it. Click Add shortcode after selecting the name of the form you wish to include.

Your post or page will receive a shortcode. If you decide to change a form in your MailerLite account later, it will be updated immediately across your blog.

Lead magnets are what I use.

I've only made two lead magnets so far. I realize I could have, and should have, added more content updates. Regrettably, I never seem to be able to find the time.

Despite this, I'm really pleased with my conversion rates.

My 3-page blog planner's landing page converts at a phenomenal 70% rate (Update: I no longer offer this because I turned the free planner into the 40+ page Smart Blog Planner).

The landing page for the FREE email course “From Fog to Profitable Blog” converts at a rate of 21%.

I'm afraid I don't utilize MailerLite's landing page designs. That's because I already had them set up when I joined up for MailerLite, and I'm too lazy to make the necessary changes.

But I love that I can give my followers a freebie and a free course and that MailerLite takes care of everything and delivers it on schedule.
