Are you seeking for the quickest WordPress hosting service? Do you want someone to look after keeping your WordPress website safe and secure?

If that's the case, Kinsta might be the managed WordPress web hosting solution you've been looking for. But hold off on signing up just yet!

Not only do I describe the many capabilities you get access to in this review, but I also expose the loading times of my test WordPress websites hosted by Kinsta. In addition, in my load testing, I show how those loading times are changed when several visitors access the sites at the same time. I also disclose the results of my downtime monitoring experiments to further evaluate Kinsta's quality.

We've independently paid for tests that put our Kinsta-hosted WordPress websites through their paces, using premium services like Pingdom and K6 to gather meaningful data and uncover the full story behind Kinsta's marketing claims, unlike some other Kinsta reviews — and other web hosting reviews in general — that aren't known to Kinsta.

If you're not easily misled by flashy marketing and flashy corporate websites, the information in this evaluation will assist you in making an informed conclusion about whether Kinsta is the right solution for your website.

This article is for you if you're seeking for the best WordPress hosting or simply want to learn more about what premium web providers like Kinsta have to offer.

Let's get started…

Summary of the Kinsta Review

If you don't have time to read the entire evaluation, in a nutshell, I found Kinsta to be a high-quality managed WordPress server that provided fast loading times while being reasonably priced.

Kinsta WordPress Web Hosting is a WordPress web hosting company based in the United States.

Since its inception in 2013, Kinsta has worked hard to establish itself as the go-to hosting solution for WordPress users looking for fast loading times and a secure architecture.

WordPress Hosting by Kinsta

Since 2013, Kinsta has provided managed WordPress hosting.

The Kinsta plans, on the other hand, aren't inexpensive. The entry-level package from Kinsta, however, starts at $25 per month, which is comparable to many other premium managed WordPress hosting.

Kinsta takes care of many of the aspects of running a fast and secure WordPress website for this pricing. It also hosts your site in a WordPress-friendly environment that's powered by the industry-leading Google Cloud Platform.

As a result, activities like protecting, caching, and backing up your WordPress website are no longer your responsibility. You can also host your website in one of 29 different locations across the world to get closer to your target audience.

Kinsta Data Centers is a company that provides data center services.

Your website can be hosted in one of 29 locations across the world.

Access to the new and improved Kinsta CDN, which is powered by Cloudflare, is also included in the plans. As a result, you may take advantage of all of the premium Cloudflare service's performance and security features at no additional cost. Cloudflare integration is highly worth having, with a built-in firewall and DDoS protection, as well as a worldwide network spanning 200 locations. If you join up through Cloudflare, this service starts at $20 per month, making it an excellent value addition to the Kinsta plans.

Integration with the Kinsta CDN

KDN access is included in all plans thanks to Cloudflare integration.

When compared to even the best affordable shared hosting, Kinsta managed WordPress hosting provides faster website loading times, less downtime, and fewer performance concerns.

Furthermore, because Kinsta solely provides hosting for WordPress websites, all of its customer service representatives have extensive expertise with WordPress users and are professionals at resolving issues with this software. Some of the support personnel is also involved in the development of the WordPress software.

Despite the fact that there are now a slew of firms offering managed WordPress hosting, as we'll discover in this review, Kinsta stands apart from the competition.

What Do You Get When You Use Kinsta?

If the prospect of faster loading speeds, fewer website management jobs to worry about, and less downtime to be concerned about appeals to you, Kinsta might be the web host for you. Let's see if that's true by looking at what you get when you join up for Kinsta.

Automatic daily WordPress website backups are included in Kinsta's service, as previously stated. You can also opt for six-hour or hourly backups for an additional fee.

On the entry-level plans, backups are retained for a minimum of 14 days, while on the higher plans, they are preserved for longer. Backups are simple to restore, and you have the choice of deploying them to your live site or a test environment.

Backup System by Kinsta

The Kinsta account interface makes it simple to handle WordPress website backups.

You may also create complete website backups manually, as needed, with the push of a button. Downloading your backups for safekeeping is an option, as is paying for the external backups add-on, which allows you to store your backup files on Amazon S3 or Google Cloud Storage for added security.

Website Manager for Kinsta Staging

You may test any changes before copying them over to your live site using the staging site available with all Kinsta hosting services.

All Kinsta hosting plans provide with access to a staging site where you can test new plugins, website customizations, and code changes before deploying them to your live site with a single click.

Tools from Kinsta

Developers might find Kinsta's easily accessible tools beneficial.

Developers will like the ability to switch between PHP versions, the ease with which the PHP engine may be restarted, and access to the New Relic PHP monitoring tool. From the Kinsta dashboard, you can also use the search-and-replace feature to make rapid changes to the contents of your WordPress website database.

DevKinsta is a WordPress development tool that may be used locally.

DevKinsta makes it simple to install WordPress locally.

Another beneficial feature of Kinsta is a program that makes installing WordPress on your computer very simple.

The DevKinsta tool allows you to quickly and efficiently move content between your live Kinsta-hosted site and your local one, allowing you to work on your local WordPress installation.

DevKinsta is a feature that everyone who wishes to develop or change their site themselves would welcome, in addition to the staging tool.

Aside from the highlights from the Kinsta feature list above, there are a few other aspects of this service that you might find interesting:

  • Website caching: There are four different forms of caching in place, including server-level caching and a WordPress caching plugin developed in-house.
  • Content Delivery Network (CDN): The entry-level Kinsta plan includes 50 GB of CDN use per month; higher plans include more.
  • PHP: At the touch of a button, switch between PHP versions 7.4, 8.0, and 8.1.
  • HTTP/2 is in use on the CDN and on the servers.
  • Let's Encrypt offers a free SSL certificate, or you can install your own.
  • SFTP is a secure FTP protocol that allows you to upload and edit data on your website.
  • There is no online file management for the server; only FTP access to the server space is available.
  • Database access: phpMyAdmin is a browser-based tool for accessing the database of a WordPress website.
  • Email service: None of the Kinsta plans include email service; G Suite is the recommended alternative.
  • WordPress website management: The MyKinsta account dashboard allows you to update WordPress, plugins, and themes, but there are no automated software upgrades.
  • Plugin restrictions: There's a list of plugins that aren't allowed, including several cache, security, and optimization plugins that can slow down a website.
  • GeoIP blocking, DDoS scanning, proactively stopping malicious code accessing the network, self-healing PHP, GCP firewall, and other security measures are in place to keep your site secure.
  • If your site is hacked while it is hosted by Kinsta, it will be cleaned up for free.
  • There are 29 data center locations to choose from, including Australia and South America, as well as several locations in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
  • IP Geolocation: Based on their location, direct users to certain portions of your website or refuse them access.
  • Staging sites: All plans come with access to a staging site that can be deployed to the live site with a single click.
  • All hosting options include free WordPress website migration.
  • Visitor analytics: Use the MyKinsta dashboard to see information about your website's traffic.
  • Uptime checks: Every five minutes, the status of your site is checked to allow the support team to respond to any outage that is discovered.

There is a live chat channel and a ticketing system available 24 hours a day, but no phone assistance.

More information is available on the Kinsta website's features page.

Let's take a quick look at what it's like to be a Kinsta customer now that we've covered the most crucial components of Kinsta hosting.

Dashboard for Kinsta Account Management

Kinsta has developed its own own dashboard for managing your account. The MyKinsta portal is simple to use and allows you to do things like create new WordPress websites, update any plugins or themes you've placed on your site, and manage backups.

Dashboard for your Kinsta account

For account and website management, Kinsta features a well-designed bespoke interface.

You can see how much of your plan allocation you've used by looking at resource consumption statistics. There's also a tab that shows visitor analytics for the website.

You may go in to the custom control panel and create a WordPress website once you've joined up with Kinsta. The process is simple, and you'll have a fresh new WordPress installation set up and ready to go in just a few clicks.

Kinsta allows you to create a new website.

With Kinsta, setting up a new WordPress installation is as simple as clicking a few buttons.

If you're using Kinsta to host numerous sites, you'll be able to manage them all from the same dashboard.

A single dashboard account can be used to administer many WordPress websites.

You can also contact the support team via the live 24/7 chat facility once you've logged in to your Kinsta account dashboard. Although Kinsta does not provide phone assistance, you can contact the help desk by submitting a ticket or using the messenger.

One of the things I like about the Kinsta support system is that if you don't respond — whether because you're distracted by the contents of another tab or because you're away from your computer — the session isn't terminated, and you don't lose the dialogue, as some hosts do.

Support System for Kinsta

Kinsta features a well-functioning hybrid live chat and ticket support system.

Instead, you can respond afterwards to bring the session back to life. You can also go back and review prior exchanges instead of losing everything after a session ends. The Kinsta method combines the finest features of email and live chat support channels – rapid two-way communication with the flexibility to answer at your leisure.

Performance of Kinsta Web Hosting

One of the key reasons to pick premium managed WordPress hosting, as noted before in our Kinsta review, is the faster website loading speeds you can expect. However, with so many web hosting companies now offering WordPress-optimized services, just selecting a plan labeled “rapid managed WordPress hosting” does not guarantee fast site speed.

I tested the speed of a site built with a lightweight theme as well as a site built with a feature-rich multipurpose theme to give you a better idea of what kind of loading speeds you can expect from Kinsta. Using the Pingdom monitoring service, loading times were collected at 30-minute intervals during a seven-day period.

I selected the popular and free Twenty Twenty One WordPress theme for the lightweight theme test.

WordPress Theme Twenty Twenty One

Twenty Twenty One is an excellent example of a WordPress theme that isn't too heavy.

Here are the findings from Pingdom over seven days to give you an idea of what kind of loading speeds you might see if you choose this theme or a comparable option:

Results of the Kinsta Pingdom Lightweight Theme

The WordPress website utilizing the Twenty Twenty One theme took 394 milliseconds to load on average.

The results revealed that the test site utilizing the lightweight Twenty Twenty One theme loaded exceptionally quickly, with the page loading in just over one-third of a second. Kinsta was significantly faster than the entry-level Bluehost and HostGator shared hosting plans that we tested (although also more expensive).

If you want to utilize a more feature-rich WordPress theme, though, let's see how Kinsta performs with a heavierweight choice.

Avada is one of the most widely used WordPress themes nowadays. This theme not only can be used to create nearly any form of website, but it also has a lot of features.

Websites employing Avada and other comparable versatile themes, on the other hand, tend to have higher file sizes, which results in slower loading times – especially with low-cost entry-level shared hosting.

Demo of Avada Digital Agency

Avada is a WordPress theme with a lot of power.

I installed Avada on my WordPress test site and imported its Digital Agency website example to see how well the Kinsta premium managed WordPress hosting service handled multipurpose themes. The load speeds were logged every 30 minutes for seven days, as before, but this time the file size of the page being tested was substantially bigger due to the adoption of the Avada theme.

Results of the Kinsta Pingdom Lightweight Theme

The Avada Digital Agency demo homepage loaded in 889 milliseconds on average.

The Avada Digital Agency demo homepage took 889 milliseconds to load since the file size was substantially higher than the Twenty Twenty One homepage, weighing in at 4.17 MB versus 394 KB for the lightweight theme.

I also tested the page loading times of a very simple blog post produced using this theme, because you might want to utilize a heavyweight theme like Avada but not import one of its feature-rich homepage layouts.

Despite having a lesser file size of 1.51 MB compared to the 4.17 MB of the Avada Digital Agency demo site, the average load time of the blog post was only 756 seconds, compared to the homepage's 889 seconds. However, it took less than one second to load, which is a reasonable time.

The average load time for the Avada Digital Agency demo blog post was 756 milliseconds.

Even with an Avada showcase demo packed with resource-intensive features and widgets, Kinsta was able to achieve decent load speeds.

Summary of the Kinsta Pingdom Load Time Test

The results of the Pingdom load time testing of Kinsta's websites.

Kinsta is unquestionably a quick web host. As you can see from the test results, the theme you choose has a significant impact on how quickly your site loads — the lightweight Twenty Twenty One theme loads significantly faster than the feature-rich Avada theme.

The testing location in Pingdom that was closest to where Kinsta's sites were hosted was picked for the tests. Visitors accessing your website from a distance may see slower page load times because these two places were very close to each other. However, because all Kinsta plans include CDN access, this shouldn't be a problem.

Nothing was done to optimize the test sites other than the caching employed by Kinsta. As a result, image and database optimization, compression of theme files, and other tasks may be able to increase the speed of your WordPress website, resulting in faster loading times.

I assessed how well the websites operated under load in addition to tracking page load times during a seven-day period. The K6 (previously Load Impact) service was used to simulate several people simultaneously accessing one of the Kinsta-hosted WordPress websites for this test.

Starting with just one user, more virtual users (shown by the gray line on the graph below) began accessing the site at regular intervals throughout a five-minute period until there were 198 virtual users using the site at the same time. During this five-minute testing session, the K6 service logged the website's response times (not load times) to see how the rising number of simultaneous users affected the site's performance.

Graph depicting the test site's response times when up to 198 virtual users accessed it.

Even when up to 198 virtual users were using the site at the same time, the site's response times (represented by the blue line) remained consistent, as shown in the graph above. When the site with the heavyweight Avada theme was tested, similar results were obtained:

Load Time Test K6

The Avada-powered site performed admirably in the K6 load test.

If you look at the Load Impact Performance Testing portion of our Bluehost, GoDaddy, and HostGator comparison, you'll notice that all three providers' low-cost shared plans had performance concerns before 50 virtual users were on the site at the same time. As a result, if you want your website to be popular, you'll most likely need to invest in premium managed WordPress hosting from a provider like Kinsta.

Another advantage of premium managed WordPress hosting over cheaper, lower-performance choices is the reduction in downtime or inaccessible periods. Some of the best value entry-level shared servers guarantee 99.9% uptime, which, although impressive on paper, equates to more than eight hours of downtime over the course of a year.

Kinsta promises 99.9% uptime, which translates to little over ten minutes of downtime per week, but in our tests, we saw 100% uptime.

Kinsta also offers a 99.9% uptime guarantee, with money deducted from your payment if the uptime falls below this threshold. During my tests, however, Pingdom had a remarkable uptime of 100% over a seven-day period.

Results of the Kinsta Pingdom Uptime Test

During the seven-day test period, the test sites remained online and accessible 100% of the time.

Pingdom did not record any downtime during the test period, despite the fact that Kinsta does not guarantee 100 percent uptime. Bluehost, GoDaddy, and SiteGround, on the other hand, couldn't say the same in earlier tests, as these cheaper hosting plans each encountered several minutes of downtime.

That concludes my evaluation of Kinsta's managed WordPress hosting. Let's look at how much it will cost you to host your website with Kinsta.

Pricing for Kinsta Hosting

Plans for Kinsta Hosting

Kinsta offers a diverse selection of WordPress hosting options.

The Starter and Pro plans, as well as four Business and four Enterprise options, are available on Kinsta. The following are the most important details:

Starter: $25 per month includes one WordPress installation, 25,000 visits, and 10 GB of disk space.

Pro: Two WordPress installs, 50,000 visits, and 20 GB disk space start at $50 per month.

Plans for businesses start at $83 per month for five WordPress installations, 100,000 visits, and 30 GB of storage.

Enterprise plans start at $500 per month for 60 WordPress installations, one million visits, and 100 GB of storage.

The prices listed above are for those who pay annually; monthly payments are slightly more expensive. All plans come with a 30-day money-back guarantee, so you can try Kinsta without risking your money.

Every plan has the same infrastructure, which is powered by Google Cloud Platform. This implies that, unlike some other providers, upgrading increases the amount of WordPress installations, visits, and storage allowances, rather than boosting website performance.

Overage fees can be divided into three categories: Overage penalties for visits are $1 per 1,000 visits, CDN overages are $0.10 per GB, and disk space overage is $2 per GB. The charges are credited to your account right away, and your website is maintained up and running. In the event of “severe overages,” Kinsta reserves the right to temporarily restrict access to your website until the problem is fixed.

The entire details may be found on the Kinsta plans page.

Last Thoughts

As you can see, Kinsta offers managed WordPress hosting with a high level of uptime and the ability to handle several visitors at once.

You'll also have access to some truly useful tools like automatic website backups, security monitoring, and a simple staging environment. The customer service team is friendly and quick to respond via the live chat service, which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Kinsta's pricing is comparable to other managed WordPress hosting services, although it isn't cheap when compared to entry-level shared hosting. Kinsta, on the other hand, is a huge step up from cheap web hosting in every way.

Kinsta comes highly recommended whether you're seeking for a speedier and more trustworthy host for your WordPress website, or if you want to launch your new site on managed WordPress hosting.

If you're still not sure, you can always sign up and have your site migrated thanks to the 30-day money-back guarantee. You can then see for yourself how quickly your site loads, and if you're not happy with the results, you can receive a refund.
